이 약은 다음 미생물의 시험관내 및 임상적 감염에 활성을 나타낸다.
* 통성호기성 그람양성균 : Staphylococcus aureus(methicillin-내성균주 포함), Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp equisimilis, Enterococcus faecalis(vancomycin-감수성 균주에 한함)
○적응증
1. 성인의 그람양성균에 의한 복합성 피부 및 피부 연조직 감염
2. 성인의 Methicillin 감수성 균주 및 내성 균주에 의한 right-side 심내막염을 포함하는 Staphylococcus aureus 균혈증
용법용량1. 성인의 복합성 피부 및 피부 연조직 감염
이 약 4mg/kg을 24시간마다 정맥 주사, 7~14일간 연속 투여한다. 정맥 주사시 0.9% 염화나트륨 주사액에 용해시켜 30분에 걸쳐 정맥 주입하도록 한다.
2. 성인의 Methicillin 감수성 균주 및 내성 균주에 의한 심내막염을 포함하는 Staphylococcus aureus 균혈증 치료
이 약 6mg/kg을 24시간마다 정맥주사, 최소 2~6주간 연속 투여한다. 정맥 주사시 0.9% 염화나트륨 주사액에 용해시켜 30분에 걸쳐 정맥 주입하도록 한다. 치료기간은 담당의사의 진단 치료에 의한다. 이 약 28일 이상 투여에 대한 안전성 자료가 제한적이다. 임상 3상에서 14명의 환자가 이 약을 28일 이상 투여 받았으며, 8명의 환자는 6주 또는 그 이상 투여하였다.
3. 신장애 환자
신장애 환자의 경우 권장 용량은 다음과 같다. 혈액투석 또는 복막투석이 필요한 환자의 경우 가능한 한 혈액 투석일의 혈액투석 이후에 이 약을 투여하도록 한다.

4. 확인이 되었거나 예상되는 병원체가 그람 음성 세균이나 혐기성 세균이 포함된 경우에는 부가적인 항생제 투여(아즈트레오남, 메트로니다졸)가 실시될 수 있다.
